Every Ted Helen chair is made to order. Crafting beautiful pieces from solid hardwood takes time — but the combination of precision milling, for that perfect fit, and hand finishing, for that heirloom quality, lets us complete a set of chairs in as little as 45 days, versus an industry standard of 80 or more.

If you ordered chairs with a table, reference your table’s completion timeline. If you just ordered chairs, see the time frames below:

• 6 or fewer chairs — 45 days
• 7 to 10 chairs — 50 days
• 11 or more chairs — 60 days

First, decide how many dining chairs and counter stools you’ll use every day.  For example, if you need four dining chairs for your everyday set-up and seating for two more people when your table is extended, order four chairs and at least two counter stools. Then  add two sets of dining-chair legs so you can trasnform those counter stools into extra chairs when needed.

After extensive research and numerous trials, Ted Helen uses an organic oil wax finish.  A three step process that is hand rubbed for ultimate protection. NO toxic chemicals, solvents, catalysts, VOC’s, or allergens.  Gloves and masks are not required when we apply, in fact it smells like a day at the spa.  

It is a three step process:

1. Two Coats Penetrating oil seeps in the wood to seal and enhance the grain.

2. One coat of finishing wax to protect the wood and provide a buttery smooth surface.

I’m delighted to offer a product that ensures both safety and effectiveness for finishing your lovely table. As a mother of three, I prioritize safety and durability above everything else. I understand the concern about wooden furniture’s resilience, especially around children.

While it’s challenging to completely avoid scratches on wood, we’ve selected a finish that simplifies quick touch-ups. The oil/wax comes with convenient, budget-friendly repair kits. 

Durability: Product uses the finest oils & waxes that evolved in nature to protect plants from the constant bombardment of the elements. It bonds molecularly within the surface instead of sitting on top like traditional finishes, meaning no peeling, flaking, delaminating, chipping or unsightly scratches & cracks. 

Value:  Product contains absolutely no solvents, so nothing will evaporate during the drying process. What is applied to the medium will stay in the medium, meaning a little Odie’s goes a long way – just buff a small amount into the surface, wait a bit, and buff off.

Safety:  Product contains absolutely no toxic chemicals, solvents, catalysts, VOC’s, allergens, or hardeners. Finishing that is safe for the whole family – gloves and masks are not needed.

Beauty:  Product system of all natural finishing, there is no one way to do things! There are no sanding restrictions, and multiple ways to achieve the finishing effect desired – be creative and free yourself! Our all natural formula of rich oils & waxes brings out the natural beauty, depth, and clarity of your wood surfaces.

Don’t stress about everyday scratches — Ted Helen products are designed to withstand real life.

We finish our solid hardwood with penetrating oil and a protective wax topcoat instead of using a surface stain. The oil soaks deep into the grain, so when a surface scratch happens, the color remains more consistent. Most light scratches are felt more than seen.

This finish also makes maintenance simple. Rather than relying on thick surface coatings that are difficult to repair once damaged, our oil-and-wax finish is designed for easy touch-ups. When everyday wear happens, most surface marks can be refreshed in about 15 minutes.

And if a larger dent, ding, or deep scratch occurs, your products sectional design gives you options. You can remove the damaged section and send it to us for repair — or, if needed, replace that section instead of buying an entirely new item.

Yes that is correct.  For example, a 44″ table will arrive in two 16″ sections and two 6″ table ends.

The fastest way to extend your table is from the outside: remove the table end, add your extension leaf, and reattach the table end.

For tables 66″ or larger, you can also extend from the middle with one extra step. Remove the table end, take off the section with the two outside legs, add the number of leaves you want, then reattach the leg section and table end.
